The life of Nelson Mandela is to be the subject of a $20m (£13m) TV mini-series spanning six decades and the momentous events leading to his election as South Africa’s first black president after 27 years in jail.

Budgeted at $15 million, Rocky: The Musical will have its world debut, in German, in Hamburg November 2012. Stylester Stallone, star of the 1976 movie and now the musical’s producer, then plans to take an English version of the musical on the road to stages worldwide.

            Oprah Winfrey’s OWN Network has announced that Winfrey’s new primetime series Oprah’s Next Chapter will launch on Sunday, January 1, 2012. The new weekly primetime series will feature Winfrey outside a studio setting, participating in conversations with newsmakers, celebrities, leaders and real-life families.

Steven Spielberg is in talks to bring the life story of biblical figure Moses to the big screen in Gods And Kings. Spielberg’s movie comes 56 years after Charlton Heston played Moses in The Ten Commandments.

Warner Bros has given the green light to a CGI/live action film based on the much-loved children’s Lego building blocks, after toying with the project since 2008. Lego has  twice been named Toy of the Century and today, seven sets are sold per second.
