Variety punts budget-friendly shooting in SA

Back in March 2017, Variety praised South Africa for its multiple advantages to filmmakers, including spectacular landscapes, extensive production infrastructure, and experienced crew.

It’s worth revisiting that article, just before the summer filming season kicks in, to review why, and just how popular, South Africa – and Cape Town and Johannesburg in particular – have become to global filmmakers.

South Africa’s currency is weak against most global currencies, providing excellent value for international clients. Furthermore, long-term projects (at least 4 weeks long) and with a minimum spend of 12 million rands, may qualify for substantial production and post-production rebates.
