The Western Cape Government says it’s focusing on using tech to revitalise the Cape Town film industry, according to the Daily Maverick.
Decoding Government-speak, this likely means they’re getting behind using streaming as a viable alternative to clients and agencies travelling from their own countries.
It’s easy to see the benefit to both parties: more shoots start to happen, and clients save travel and accommodation costs.
And the local film industry gets a kick start whilst travel regulations to and from South Africa are clarified.
Hybrid models of this – with some clients travelling to be present shoot in Cape Town, and some viewing remotely – are already developing quickly.
